Shop, the directorial debut of screenwriters Siddharth Singh and Garima Wahl, is set to hit the screens on April 5. And the film features a girl who becomes a surrogate mother.

The film stars Monica Panwar, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Monali Thakur and Vrajesh Hirji in small roles.

Set in Gujarat, “Dukaan” movies unfolds the story of Chameli (Panwar), a young woman embarking on an adventurous journey as a surrogate mother.

“Through Jasmine’s narrative lens, the film explores the important themes of dignity, freedom of choice and autonomy of women engaged in professional life surrogacy,” the producers said in a press release.

Siddharth-Garima, known for his work in films like “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, “Ram-Leela” and “Kabir Singh”, said they hope that “Dukan” will create a meaningful conversation with its social message. And the film will surely do well.

“Through our film, we aim to navigate the emotional roller coaster experienced by couples on the surrogacy journey, while also exploring the ethical and immoral complexities often sidelined in social discourse,” the filmmakers said in a joint statement.

Siddharth-Garima are the lyricists for songs like “Pinga”, “Deewani Mastani”, “Mohe Rang Do Lal” from “Bajirao Mastani” and “Nainovale Ne” from “Padmaavat”. And he is also an excellent writer
